Leveling Up When the Scoreboard Lies: How to Game Your Self-Doubt and Win
Leveling Up Through the "Not Good Enough" Trap
In the Rogue Consciousness path, we don’t run from the shadows...
We live in them like Sam Fisher and the other monsters.
We face them, train with them, game them, and bang through to the other side. One of the heaviest shadows I’ve carried (and still visit sometimes) is the old refrain: “I’m not good enough.”
It hits hard.
That feeling has haunted me with fears of abandonment and betrayal for my entire life as long as I can remember.
After pouring years, serious money, and good will into betting on myself—coaching, content, systems, experiments—I sometimes look around and think, Where’s the tangible stack? The visible scoreboard can feel brutally empty.
But here’s the reframe that changes everything: This isn’t proof you’re not good enough. This is leveling up.
You have to spend time upgrading skills and gaining experience to match the tasks and foes you're facing. In the process, you become someone else as a result of the struggle.
Everywhere else in my life—body, mindset, marriage, primal energy, philosophy, hobbies of all kinds—I’ve gained metric tons and made leaps and bounds.
That's what it's all about.
Money-wise, I’m not far behind because I’ve been rich for years: living on my own terms, calling my shots, protecting my energy in Ghost mode... because, well, I needed to, and that's about all I'm going to say about that.
It was necessary to recalibrate back to myself.
The “deficit” isn’t a character flaw. It’s data.
That’s the play.
Be ruthlessly honest with the gap. Don’t judge your worth by it. Don’t shame the character behind the avatar. Just spend deliberate time with it—analyze the mechanics, adjust the build, run the next mission and learn.
In Train • Game • Bang terms:
Train: Keep stacking the daily reps that compound (movement, nutrition, breath, focus).
Game: Reframe the deficit as intel, not identity. Use the gaming lens—every pro was once a noob dying repeatedly. The leaderboard doesn’t define you; how you respawn does.
Bang: Execute anyway. Take the imperfect shot. Launch the content. Close the deal. Live the primal, abundant life while the numbers catch up.
You’re not behind. You’re in the upgrade sequence. The “not good enough” voice is just the old tutorial level trying to keep you safe. Thank it, then mute it and keep playing.
Game on.
To the men and women drawn to this path feel stuck but sense something bigger. You're not alone.
